Day 1

Blog #1 - Day 1

Just fyi - My blogs should be short and to the point and an easy read.  I don't want to give you a book manuscript each time.

So to prep for my Day 1, I went grocery shopping.  Now there is no reason that I should be going to the grocery store.  Its Labour Day and I weighed in at 481 lbs yesterday.  Hope to have a good week.  Did I buy anything interesting?  Only thing I got is some protein powder but I have had that a couple weeks now.  Other than that, not really.  Chicken, fish etc.  When I lost 69lbs last time I bought beef jerky but didn't do it this time as it seemed expensive.  Hope to make more smoothies and stuff like that.  Exercised a lot today.  My back is locked up so I can't stand for long periods of time so I did a chair workout, floor workout, standard toe touches (but I hang for about 10seconds for 3 reps so I will eventually touch the floor).  my back therapy PT.  And now Im doing my blog so its been a busy day off.

Plan for tomorrow.  Cook some meals for the week, repeat my exercises (as Im off tomorrow as well) and think of how I am going to shoot a video for my youtube channel (see Joyce, I am planning on doing one lol).  Plan is to lose 30lbs in 30 days so this should be interesting.

So for swapping bad food for good food, this is what I have so far.  Will try some more swaps next grocery day.

Bad Food: Chocolate                 Good Food: Watermelon

Bad Food: Bread                         Good Food - Wraps

Bad Food: Pop                            Good Food: Crystal Light Liquid Drink Mix

Bad Food; Chips                         Good Food: Popcorn

Bad Food: Fast Food  --    Well this is a work in progress but will want to eat at home as much  as I can

I take a lot of chocolate bars to work because I just need a bit or two and then go back to work.  But I have been taking watermelon instead and that was worked so far.  I bought cucumbers this week so I will take that, watermelon, and my protein shake.  I also have some baby cookies if I need something more solid to eat.

Blog #3 - Work Tomorrow

Back to work tomorrow.  Had a nice long weekend and I was able to get groceries so today I will cook a couple of meals and get my lunches ready to take with me.  Also increasing the veggies as well in my work meals.  Got an hour of workouts in today  as well.  I weighed myself this morning as well even tho its only been one day, I am down 2.2lbs.  Usually I just weigh myself on Sun and Thurs but made an exception for this week.  Will probably weigh myself tomorrow to see what work I did to had any result.  Biggest issue with work is not taking chocolate bars but I have been taking watermelon instead and that seems to be working ok.

Blog #4 - Seeing Progress and Feeling Good

So I have already lost over 40lbsand Im working on getting to 50.  I was done 50 before but I have been gong back and forth for those 10lbs for quite awhile.  But since the start of September (as its only 5th right now) I am down and few pounds and the scale is going in the right direction.  But just still staying motivated and can't wait to get to 469 as I am at 477.8 right now.  Since I only work part-time, I am taking advantage of some the time I am not working and concentrating on my nutrition.  With my nutrition, I want to be gluten free and then start introdcuing food combining.  So that is down the road.  I also have started a 13 week program and I am on week 4.  The first 3 weeks I didn't hit my workout goals but week 4 I have and I still have a few days left to surpass that.  Point is, I am not giving up and I will make up the workouts that I have missed.  Feeling good.  Having some wraps for lunch and chicken and potoato and veggies for dinner. Will come home tonight after work and make my dinner for the next 3 days.  Hope everyone else is doing well.  Still want to do a youtube show so be on the lookout for that.

Blog #5 - Re-examining The Diet

Blog 5

So I have been watching a documentary called FAT: A Documentary 2 and it has convinced me to look at my

diet again.  I worked 5 days in a row last week and I went back to my old ways.  but I have a few days off so I am going to try my best to lose 30lbs as fast as I can as I think if I can do that, then my back will be good enough to get a full time job.

Plan is to eat more veggies and to pre-make my meals.  Tried to just cook when I come home but I was so tired so ending up getting take out.  Can't do that this week.  Good thing is, my wife is going to be on board with this and that is a huge obstacle to hurdle.   But I didn't workout this weekend and I put a few pounds on but I thought it was going to be worse so Im ok with it. So we will prep this week and see how it goes.

Blog 6

So I have been doing yoga for almost two months and wasn't dropping weight but have had some NSV so I am loving that.  I have lost 50lbs but have been stuck at that for about a year.  But i have changed my diet and not eating as much fast food.  Eating more protein and less carbs.

Went to buy a new car and got the paperwork but we took it off the lot and the engine light came on and they said we needed a new transmission.  So we said no way, we want a different car so we are back to square one.  But looking for cars is hard for me because all cars don't fit me.  So that is a challenge.

But I have been more motivated this week as we had the opportunity to get fast food after a long morning out of town but decided to go to the grocery store instead and picked up a healthy lunch.

I am currently at 472.4 and haven't seen the 460's in a long time so I have my food ready, workouts done, will do one more yoga workout and eating a nice stir fry for dinner.

I work two days then off another two days so I will hit it hard those two days off and hope to get closer to 465lbs.  I think if I can get to 450lbs, my back might be fixed and I can work regular jobs again.

Blog 7

So one thing I do is I track what workouts I do and when I do them.  I pulled a muscle in my back and I didn't workout.  I could have done chair workouts but I didn't.  But I didn't workout for about 4 week and I can't get that time back so I am trying to get back on track.  Bought some good groceries and got back on the mat and did a few quick workouts.  I did 20mins of yoga, did some floor work and did high knees.  After that, I was so sweaty.  But I am hoping to get back on track and able to drop a lot of weight fast.  I didn't even do a blog either and that is bad.  But Im back to 100% and hoping to move forward.

Do you remember back in the 90's that Billy Blanks had Tae-Bo workouts.  He still does them and he look great.  I just had a memory of it and decided to see if he was still doing it and he has a youtube channel featuring it.  Good for him, I'm glad he is still going at it.

I have been tracking my weight for a couple of years or so now.  I have been at the same weight for this last year but I'm still working out (but not consistently).  So I think it is time to get my food plan down pat.  So I am going to work on that for the new year.

On a side note.  I have been trying to touch my toes as well.  With no bend in my knee, I could bend over and just touch my lower quad.  Not very good.  I eventually was able to touch below my kneecap.  Now I am even getting down a bit further below my kneecap.  Very excited about this. Can you touch your toes?  If you can't if you just try every day, I bet you will be able to do it in now time.  It is quite the experiment!

Christmas is around the corner and what are you doing for Christmas Dinner?  How many dinners are you going to?  Are you not going to worry about eating healthy and fix it in the new year?  Are you going to tell yourself not to indulge and then just eat normal portions?  How many desserts are you going to eat?  However you do it, you will still have to eat right and work out in the new year.

On a side note: I subscribed to a bariatric page on facebook and they have some awesome reciepes and I will try them in the new year.

Merry Christmas :)

Interesting topic.  Can McDonalds actually be a healthy-ish restaurant?  Could they change the Big Mac to make it kinda healthy?  How would they do that and still be able to have the drive-thru.  You don't want to wait 10 minutes and you don't want it to be a big mac salad.  Just an interesting thought.

New Years is around the corner so let that new years resolution kick in now!

Happy New Year!!

Blog #11

So I weighed in today and I am now 468.6 lbs and that is 59lbs down in 912 days. Very motivated as I am officially out of the 470's and I hope not to go back because sometimes I have 2lb swings so I hope I can get closer to 465 that 470 in the next weigh in.  But I am really motivated now.  I have been charting my weight since 2022 and tracking what exercises I do.

What is a goal for 2025?  Use my slow cooker more as that is good item to have in the kitchen and I am going to break out my smoothie machine and make some of those this year.  Speaking of slow cookers, I have pork loin in there now with potatoes and cream of celery soup so that will go into dishes and I can eat that over the next week or so.

Blog 12

So I got out my blender today.  That was a big thing for me as it was buried in a box.  But I said to myself I would at least get it out.  So I got it out and I actually made a strawberry smoothie with just berries and water.  But at least it was a start and I am happy to have finally got it done.  I got my protein powder so I will add that next time.

Just a side note: I was on facebook and signed up for a bariatric page.  It is great as it has some great recipes.  I am not planning on getting the surgery but the recipes on good.

Healthy McDonalds - Part 2

So not long ago, I asked if McDonalds could be healthy.  Then I go on youtube and there was a video in my feed asking that question.  He bought product from SPROUTS and other grocery stores like that.  (i.e Whole Foods).  He went to a private fast food restaurant and asked if he could transform it to a "McDonalds Sucks" restaurant and they let him.  He bought enough food and drink for 250 meals and he gave it away for free.  He was able to give it away as he had people lined up around the corner.  Someone did a cost of how much it cost for the burger and fresh cut fries.  Comes out to almost $5 a meal so even if you sold it for $10 per meal, you are making money on it.  Even the fries were freshly cut and put in a vat but it was in a healthier oil.  I believe this video took place in L.A. so they ar more health consicous there but the idea did work there.  So would it work in your town?  Interesting idea.  I still want to do my stir fry restaurant and I think it would work but I am not sure it would work in my town.  But I know there are a lot of diabetics and older people in my town that could use it.

Blog 14

So someone asked me why I do this blog.  Why do I want to do a youtube show and do my story online.  Well, it gives me something creative to do and I really do hope I can make some money on it.  But basically, it keeps me accountable because I know I have to post a blog or video consistently and I hope people can be inspired and do their own blog.  I know I have inspired at least one person to start their blog and they are having a great time doing it.

But I also need to drop some weight so I can get a full time job because I can't stand for long periods of time as my back and legs start to give out.  So I hope if I can drop another 20 or 30 pounds that I will be more employable.  I should be able to drop 20lbs in a month but I am still hovering around 470lbs.  But Im off tomorrow so that means it is grocery shopping day and I need to set myself up for the week.

Blog # 15 - UPDATE
So this is just a quick update.  Started in January and it is now Feb 10 and I haven't lost weight but I have had some non scale victories.  I have lost 60lbs and no one from work has noticed.  But that is ok as they don't really pay too much attention to me.  Not long ago my hair was getting too long and I had a big goatee and then I shaved it off and no one said a thing.  Someone else darkens their hair by one shade and everyone freaked out.   So no matter what the scale says, I am liking what I am doing for exercise.  Just have to fix the diet.  Work is crazy too so there has been some stress eating and I still hate grocery shopping but it has to get done.  I have a pretty easy week so I hope to get my food under control. But according to my calender, I am exercising every other day so thats good.
Blog # 16 - 3 Weeks off
I ended up taking about 3 weeks off.  I usually take a couple of days off but I try to get back on track asap.   But Im glad that I started documenting my workouts because sometimes I think its been about a week off but it usually is like 2 or 3 weeks off.  So I got back on track today and I actually did some cooking as well so my days  that I am busy, I don't have to think about what I will have to eat.  And that is what is valuable. But I heard that if you put the work in for one day, that will set you up for a week.  If you put the work in for one week, that can set you up for a month.  You put the work in for a month, that can set you up for 6 months.  I thought that was interesting note.

Blog # 17 - Breakthrough
So I broke 470lbs.  I have done it a few times recently but I think I won't see 470 again.  On to the next goal of getting under 460lbs.  Work is still stressful.  Considering I am only part-time, it shouldn't be this stressful.  Have some other home projects on the go as well and I hope they work out.  It is going to be a crazy summer.  Key thing is, keep grocery shopping regularly and do my cooking days and exercise when I can.  I think I can get off chocolate but pop is going to be difficult.

Blog #18 - LIFE

So I work part-time but I have been given a contract to work up to 40 hours a week.  I have been getting close to that the last several weeks and I haven't been able to do my workouts.  Just very tired.  But honestly, that is an excuse.  I could have done a quick workout or something.  I need to stress consistency over length of workouts.  I have put on a few lbs but that doesn't bother me as I am doing a cook day so my eating should be close to perfect this week. I haven't even posted like I want to on a regular basis but I hope to do it more regularly. I have some vacation coming up so I hope to give it 100% during my week off and able to get back on track.  One thing I am doing is trying to keep track how much I spend of all the fast food and convenience store food.  It is a lot and I need to cut that back a lot.  So moral of the story for today is consistency is better than length of workouts.  No sense working out for 2 hours a day for a week but then take a month off as opposed to having shorter workouts every day and eating proper.

Blog #19 - WEEK OFF

May 4/25 - May the 4th be with you!

Week 19

So this is my first week off work in 2.5 years.  And it isn't even a week off.  It is only 6 days cuz that is what I could afford to take off.  So I did a big grocery shop and bought some cucumbers and said I will eat one every day this week.  I also plan on making my own protein bars so I have a receipe and plan on making it.  I am trying to get off chocolate but it is so hard for me even tho I am diabetic and should be off it.  I also want to do some of my diy plans.  I have a tv pilot to finish so I hope to hand that in to the tv provider soon but they told me not to rush it because they have everything lined up for 2026 already. So I hope to have it handed in and be ready for production for 2027.  Plus I have some other products I want to finish and try to sell them while I am off.  Other things, I want to do it meal prep for the next couple of weeks, find a way to increase my fish and vegetable intake.  When I eat fish and eat more veggies, I am more successful.  So I hope to get into a good routine and be able to do that for the rest of the year.

Blog #20 - What Is Holding You Back

So what is holding you back from reaching your goals?  What goals have you set?  Have you set easy goals, or difficult or multiple goals?  I am thinking to myself that I need to do a deep dive into my weaknesses.  I want to go gluten free and sugar free.  But it is very difficult when you have food issues.  But I have been watching some videos about people going on different diets and it seems that if you can get thru the first couple of weeks and get into a good routine, that you should be good to go. You might have some bad days but just keep at it.  It just keeps reminding me that this whole journey is all mental so fix your mental game and you will be reaching your goals.  So what is stopping me?  Well I want to put my story on youtube but I really don't want to put myself out there for the world to comment on.  But I don't have a lot of support but I do have some so I am going to learn on those people and just start it.  Every person who has been successful on youtube says your first videos are going to be awful so just start it.  So maybe that is what I will do. I started this blog because I am hoping that I can get used to posting regularly and that I will get used to posting on youtube as well.

Week 20
Blog #21 - Sick Sick Sick

So what do you do when you are sick.  Do you still try to eat right? Or do you don't care and eat whatever you want?  Do you order fast food delivery? Do you still try to get in some sort of workout? I hate being sick.  I eat whatever I want cuz I usually don't care.  I just want to eat and then go back to sleep and just wait to feel better. This time when i was sick, I actually ate healthy and hope to get better faster.  Need to go back to work tomorrow.  I can't keep missing shifts.  So whatever you do when you are sick, at least try to eat decent.

Blog #22 - Your Mindset

One thing I wanted to say that DDP says is believing in the word "Yet".  When someone asks you, can you hold your foot above your head?  You don't say no, I can't do that.  You say, no, I can't do that YET.  Such a small word but I believe it makes a big difference in your mindset.  I was watching another inflluencer and he said that even though he was well over 300lbs, you told himself that he was an athlete.  Even though I am 470lbs, I tell myself that I am an athlete.  It really turns my focus into a CAN-DO attitude.  Someone else in my life is the total opposite.  Always saying they can't do anything.  I ask them about applying for a certain job and they tell me they can't do it.  So I look over the job description and Im like, you can totally do this job. But they don't believe in themselves.  I try to tell them that you have to try, but it is so hard for them to change their attitude.  Where this brings me now is when you fall off the wagon.  Instead of getting right back up and getting on the wagon, it might take you another month.  And then you are upset with yourself.  But if you can just put together a solid month, or 3 months, or 6 months, you can do anything.  So try to have a positive mindset and see what happens in your life.

Blog # 23 - Bad Advice

I know its been awhile so I have posted but here we go

So I was a quite upset this week all over a stupid youtuber.  This guy gives out advice and takes money for programs etc.  He was asked how to lose 50lbs fast.  He said to have only 3 meals and walk an hour a day but get used to being hungry and expect to gain it back.  This is what he said.

DIET - For breakfast, you can have 2 eggs ( probably with toast or something, I forget), salad for lunch and a proper fish dinner.  But if you don't like fish, have another salad.  Have another salad?  Really?  2 salads in one day?  What happened to variety?  Why not have chicken instead of fish and why another salad?

EXERCISE - Then he said to try to walk an hour a day. No one has time to walk an hour a day.  But he did say if you can't walk for an hour to try 20mins to start which is good advice.  But to start out doing 1 hour a day, that is crazy.  Is walking the only thing you can do?  If you have not exercised for awhile, to walk for an hour right off the bat, that is crazy.

But the other things I didn't like is that he said you have to get used to being hungry.  Really?  You can't have an apple or something?  He never talked about getting protein or anything.  It was eat eggs for breakfast, and have 2 salads a day.  C'mon man.  It just seemed you go from overeating and eating junk to doing this extreme eating.

He also said don't be surprised if you gained the weight back.  Like, really?  Why not make a video on how to lose weight and keep it off?  Why not do that.  And the guy who the focus of this video, he reminds me of a snake oil salesman.  I didn't trust him from the start.

He also said he was so shocked how people he knew in high school (he probably was in high school in the 70's or 80's) had gained 50 or 100lbs.  Like really?  You are so surprised?  With the statistics of how many people are obese, he is surprised that people have gained weight since then.

This guy gives such garbage advice and people should unfollow this guy.

On a side note, had to go to the ER and have been in fair bit of pain for a week or so and I finally went to the ER cuz the pain was too intense.  Went in at 730pm and left at 430am.  What was interesting was that out of the 20 people who were in the waiting room, 3 people fell off ladders.

School is Back!

Hey Kids,

School is coming.  End of summer is almost over.  That means Christmas is around the corner and snow will start flying.  Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners are coming and weight is bound to start creeping up on us.  So now is the time to get serious and get to work.  Time to regroup at let's get to a good weight for January 1st, 2026.  My problem is that I cook the same stuff all the time and I need to learn some new recipes.  I need to do some more meal prep so that is what I will be working on.  I am also working on my tv pilot and I am about ready to hand it in.  Hopefully it gets green lit in 2026 and debuts in 2026/27/28.  If it even gets one season, that would be awesome.  I am also working on improving my Donate Your Weight series and my Hidden Jewel series for youtube.  Lots to do.  Chase your dreams evryone.  Small victories will eventually be a huge victory!

The Biggest Loser Fallout

Number 25

I have watched every season of The Biggest Loser and I have watched it from other countries as well.  What is going on now is the fallout of the show.  In one of the seasons, they reviewed that every contestant gained the weight back (if not more) and one person has not got back to their original weight.  Even tho I watched every episode, I didn't agree with everything they did on the show.  They had people run a mile and these people haven't run in ages and you see all the injuries that it caused.  I can't imagine going to a weight loss show and you gained all the weight plus then some.  So is the best way to lose weight be the slow and steady wins the race mentality?  I know the people who was interviewed have an axe to grind even tho some of the did win the show.  It was a very inspirational show when you see all these people lose weight so you know it can be done if you just diet an exercise.  But now we see they exercise for 8 hours a day and they only get 800 to 1200 calories and they have to burn 6000- to 8000 calories.  Now they say that their metabolism is all messed up. I am sure that we will hear more about this in the near future.

Blog 26 -OPPORTUNITIES

So I have come into an interesting situation.  At work, there could be two more full time opportunities but the issue is, my back is still not 100% and I can't do the jobs with that issue.  I can do one of the jobs but not the 2nd job.  But I think if I can lose 30lb or maybe 50lbs, I can do these jobs.  So what is the next step.  I have to get back on the train and drop some more weight.  So that means I have to grocery shop and meal plan and have cook days.  The one job comes up in January and the next job comes available in February.  I have let too many opportunties slip through my fingers because of my weight. And with these jobs, I can go from part-time to full time.  So now I have to take this time and drop this weight and strengthen my back and get one of these jobs.  I should know more in March/April.
